Understanding Workflows

Workflows are a powerful function that enables you to define a specific set of workflow steps that a form will move through. Let’s see this Hazard report in action. You’ll see this report has two steps, the initial report and the supervisor review. Each step in the workflow can be configured to go to a different person, a group of people, or the supervisor of a person who filled in a previous step. As a form progresses through its workflow steps, the person that the form is currently assigned to will be able to see, but not edit, all of the information provided in previous steps. In this example, the form is at step 2, supervisor review. The supervisor can review everything that William submitted. He has the option of filling in his section and submitting it or sending it back to William with comments. Once a form has reached the final step of the workflow the label on the submit button will change to say Complete. This is an indication that clicking the button will complete the workflow and the form will move into history.
