Understanding Subsections

Subsections are intended to be used for grouping and formatting in order to make a form easier to read and navigate. When a user is filling in a form they have the ability to collapse or expand subsections in order to make it easier to see what they are doing.

Subsections can be used to group a set of fields together and then use conditional logic to show or hide those fields based on how a user answers a question. Subsections can also be used as repeatable sections for such things as collecting names and signatures.

To add a subsection to a form template

  1. Go to the Forms Library and either create a new form or edit an existing form.

  2. Select the location where you want to add a subsection and scroll down the list of form elements to find the subsection element.

  3. Click on the subsection element to add it to your form.

  4. Then select the subsection and give it a name.

    • You can then add additional elements inside the subsection.

  5. In addition, within the subsection properties you can add a description that is displayed at the top of the subsection.

    • Toggling the option for Headless will show or hide the subsection header.

    • Adding a value in the Maximum number of groups will turn the subsection into a repeatable section.

    • When users are filling in a form with a repeatable section they have to option to click plus to add another copy of the subsection.
