How to add videos to forms
With this new feature, you can now add video to forms, training, and tasks. Video files can be uploaded directly into Wombat or you can add links from other players such as Vimeo or Youtube.
Uploading a Video to Wombat
If you are adding a video to a form and want it hosted directly in Wombat, you first have to upload the video.
To do so, click on Admin in the bottom left hand corner and then select Video Uploads.
Click Upload Video file.
Enter in the title, description, and upload the source file.
It is recommended to upload at 1080P if possible.
Click create.
Wombat will automatically generate lower resolution versions to display for people viewing with slower internet connections.
Click Run Job.
This will take a moment depending on the size of the video.
Once complete, noted by the green arrows you can add this upload to the Video Library.
To add video to the Video Library
Under Configuration in the left navigation, select Video Library.
Then click Create Video Item. Find the video you just uploaded from the Video Jobs drop down.
Enter in the title, description if applicable, and select a thumbnail.
Then click create. This video is now ready to be added to your forms.
Adding a Video to a Form
In this example, let’s add a video to the Skid Steer Pre Use Inspection Checklist.
Click Add Form Element.
Select Add Video Player.
Click on the video box.
Select Internal.
This is for all the videos in the Wombat Video Library.
Select the video from the video library item.
Enter in the field label.
Enter in the description if applicable.
Once all looks good, exit by clicking close or click off the window.
Click Save and Publish.
Now when we view the form, you’re able to watch the video. Videos will only play if there is an internet connection. If the form is saved offline and there is not a connection, you will not be able to play it until connectivity resumes. If a form is submitted and has a video on it, you are able to tell how much of the video was watched.
Adding a Video from Youtube/Vimeo
Let’s go back to the form builder.
Add a video directly from an external source such as Youtube or Vimeo.
Click add video player and select External.
Add in the video source file by copy/pasting the URL.
The thumbnail image will automatically display so you can leave the thumbnail url blank.
Click save and publish.
Updating a video
If you have updates to your video or want to replace a video, you can do so without disrupting your forms.
If the video is stored in Wombat, simply upload the newest version by clicking Admin, Video uploads, Upload Video File, and then click run job.
Then go to the video library, find the video you would like to update, click the pencil icon and select the new video in the Video Jobs drop down.
Now the video will automatically be updated wherever it’s displayed in your forms.
Deleting a Video
To delete a video, you must first remove it from use from all your active forms.
You can then remove it by clicking the trash can icon in the video library.
To completely delete it from Wombat, go to video uploads, click on the video, select the three dots in the corner, and click delete job.
